Don’t let a missing tooth or teeth affect your confidence. Rainbow Dental Centre in Angus offers Teeth Replacement Options for when you are missing one or multiple teeth.
A missing tooth or teeth can be a traumatic event that can affect your smile, your confidence and the ability to enjoy the foods you love. At Rainbow Dental Centre, our dentists have the knowledge and experience to provide you with options to replace your missing teeth in a way that suits your lifestyle.
Removable Dentures
Removable Dentures can replace all of the teeth in an arch (Complete Denture) or can replace one or more missing teeth in an arch (Partial Denture). Removable Dentures can be flexible dentures, or can be made of acrylic or have a metal base. Removable dentures can be a cost-effective way to replace missing teeth but must be maintained well to ensure they last. Removable dentures require regular re-lining to promote a good fit as the gums and bone of the jaw will change over time.
Implants
Dental implants may be used to replace one or more teeth. A dental implant consists of the root form of the tooth, which is implanted into your jaw bone, and the crown of the tooth which is attached to the root form after integration into the bone is complete. In the case where multiple teeth need to be replaced, two or more implants may be placed and then bridged to span the area of the missing teeth. If all of the teeth of an arch are missing, there may be an option to place multiple implants and then have either a removable denture that can be clipped into the implants for added stability (an overdenture) or a permanent denture can be placed that may only be removed by your dentist (all on 4 denture). By reviewing your health and lifestyle history, our dentists will be able to discuss which implant options may be a good choice for you.
Bridge
A dental bridge is a fixed or permanent option to replace one or more missing teeth. A bridge involves preparing the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth by removing a portion of the circumference of the teeth to allow room for the bridge to be placed on top of these abutment teeth. The adjacent teeth will hold the “pontic” or replacement tooth in between. Because a bridge involves cutting into the teeth beside the missing tooth, you may wish to consider placing an implant instead, especially considering the cost is approximately the same. You and your dentist can discuss the pros and cons of each option to determine the best treatment for you.
